2023 Resolutions

- Get a Halloween costume for my dog.
I’m not a big fan of Star Wars, but I’m thinking of (this one) because it’s cute and simple.
- Play Cave Story.
I favor sword games over shooting games, but a lot of people I respect say that Cave Story is one of the best indie games of all time. Maybe it’s worth a shot, so to speak.
- Play Rain World.
The consensus on Rain World is that it’s a work of art on par with Hollow Knight; and, like Hollow Knight, you hate it until you love it. Now that I’m terminally infected with Dark Souls brain fungus, I can hopefully make it to the other side of the “hate it” part.
- Do another “Short Horror Games on Itchio” series of posts this coming spring.
I had a lot of fun doing this last spring. I’d like to do it again, preferably in March before the new Zelda game comes out.
- Set up an account on Itchio to host digital copies of my zines.
I hate Gumroad, and I love Itchio. Simple as.
- Make a hardcover book of my art from 2022.
I use Chatbooks, and I print one copy for myself every year. Maybe this year it might be fun to create something like a portfolio zine of my art, but we’ll see.
- Create a banner illustration for Etsy.
The suggested pixel size is 1200 x 300, and the theme is “digital terrarium.” I want to make an interior illustration of a room filled with plants. Something simple should be okay.
- Rework The Demon King into a 5k word short story.
Writing this novel might be too ambitious of a project for me at the moment, but I can’t stop thinking about these idiot fucking characters and their idiot fucking problems.
- Write a 4k word short story called “Is Your Dungeon OSHA Certified?”
I have been obsessed with this idea for months, which means I should probably write it just to get it out of my system. Also, I unironically want to get OSHA certification myself.
And finally, someone needs to take Elden Ring away from me. I should probably stage an intervention for myself early next year.
