- I put together a draft of the table of contents for my upcoming dark fantasy zine, Terrible People. I also put some time into managing the illustration commissions, and I did a line edit of the first story, “The Cow-Headed Boy.” I found three typos! What the fuck!! I guess it’s not so bad that the anthology this story was supposed to appear in literally burned in a fire.

- I also did a careful line edit of my Tears of the Kingdom story “Many Dark Ambitions,” which is on AO3 (here). I found half a dozen small typos, which made me want to kill myself. I’m working on a new line editing technique that will hopefully help me prevent mistakes like this in the future.

- Jothroxas on Tumblr (here) created a fantastic illustration for my short story “The Girl in the Screen at the End of the World.” Jothroxas draws evocative dark fantasy art with expertly rendered character designs and bold color palettes, and I’m beyond grateful he accepted this commission. You can see a crop of his piece on Tumblr (here) and the full illustration in the endnotes of the story on AO3 (here).

- I wrote a review for the graphic novel Mamo, which was created by a Zelda fandom artist. I love when fanartists go pro, and Mamo is a fantastic book. I submitted the review to my editor at WWAC, and hopefully it will be out soon!

- I posted a drawing of Sonia from Tears of the Kingdom on Tumblr (here). The joke is that I gave her Dead Anime Mom hair, because… You know. That aside, I had a lot of fun drawing this character.

- I posted an epilogue to my “Seeded Ground” comic on Tumblr (here) in the form of an illustration for the Herbert Marcuse quote that inspired me to draw this comic in the first place. I know it’s kind of Tumblrina-cringe to hate capitalism right now, but I just don’t think the point of anyone’s life should be to optimize their performance as an employee. People need room to grow.

- For the digital zine version of the comic, I went ahead and finished the last page. It’s kind of upsetting, but you can see it (here) if you like.

Not much happened this week, but my tomato plant is now producing actual tomatoes. This made me very happy. I recently saw a tweet that was like, “All the Millennials I know are skipping their midlife crises and going straight to their grandparent phase,” and damn if that didn’t hit home.

I have read a number of professionally published and edited books that contained typos. At this point I try to accept that they're a fact of life and just pray I don't do one of the ones where a perfectly mundane and G-rated word becomes X-rated by mistake.

If it helps, I just finished reading the newest release from an author who's been on the NYT bestseller list for 35+ years, and I found at least three homophone errors ("manilla" envelope and "psyche classes" are the ones I remember.)
