I have a bunch of projects up in the air, but none of them are quite finished yet. This is what I have to show for last week:
- I’ve been working on The Demon King. Here are the new chapters:
Chapter 13 (on AO3 here)
Chapter 14 (on AO3 here)
Chapter 15 (on AO3 here)
This is the halfway point of the novel, and it’s also where I stopped writing last summer. As I move forward, I’ll need to create a new outline of the structure of the next five chapters.
- I posted my story for the Night in the Woods zine (on AO3 here). I wanted to look deeper into the lives of the older working-class generation of Possum Springs, whose perspectives might not make a lot of sense out of context, and I really enjoyed writing this.
- I wrote a bit about the 2014 postapocalyptic novel Station Eleven on Women Write About Comics (here). I praised the novel in my blurb, but I actually think it’s kind of average, like, a solid 7/10 stars. It’s good, of course, but the story and characters just don’t feel real or compelling to me. It's also frustrating when authors completely fail to understand giant swaths of popular culture, like the entire medium of video games.
- I commissioned an artist to draw Ganon’s creepy projection of Zelda in Tears of the Kingdom, and damn did they deliver. They posted their illustration on Tumblr (here).
I also got a PlayStation 5 for the express purpose of playing Final Fantasy XVI, but all I’ve done is play Elden Ring in Ultra HD. It is glorious.
