Another game I've been interested in but never got past the first hour of is Omori. My understanding is that Omori has extended stretches of Earthbound-style strangeness broken by genuinely upsetting horror sequences, but it's difficult to sit through the initial "everyone is best friends in a magical pastel forest playground" prologue. The first time I tried to play the game, I lost interest and quit after the unnecessarily lengthy battle tutorial.

So, having had such a good experience with restarting Disco Elysium, I redownloaded Omori and opened my old save file from after the tutorial, when the game actually begins. I've been enjoying myself so far. The battle system is much more intricate than it seems, and I'm intrigued by what sort of damage these kids are carrying around.

I should also say that the game's premise is painfully relatable. I remember seeing the comic I linked to above for the first time ten years ago. It wrecked me then, and it wrecks me still.

I should get back to playing Omori! I got a good way into it, and I've really enjoyed what I played; it's both very charming and very unsettling. I just haven't picked it up in a while because I hit a point with a lot of side stuff to do and got overwhelmed.
