2024 Writing Log, Part Eleven
Mar. 24th, 2024 09:42 am- I posted the tenth chapter of Lay the Gods to Rest, a story about Hyrule’s industrial revolution after the events of Tears of the Kingdom, on AO3 (here).
- I put together what I hope is an accurate summary of Bloodborne’s background lore (here). These thousand words took a full month of intense research, no joke.
- Speaking of Lovecraft, I got to write about Gou Tanabe’s manga adaptation of The Shadow Over Innsmouth for the March recommendation round-up post on Women Write About Comics (here).
- And speaking of eldritch sea creatures, I posted an illustration of some perfectly normal goldfish on Tumblr (here).
My 11yo chihuahua, Elizabeth Kingsley Chupington (also known as Chupa), passed away peacefully in her sleep this Friday. She lived a long life filled with all the best things a sweet and tiny dog could want, and we loved her very much. Like the monarch she was, Chupa is survived by many portraits and poems created by some of the best artists and writers of a generation. During Chupa’s last few days, we sat on the couch and played Breath of the Wild together, and I like to think that somewhere she’s still running through sunny fields full of butterflies and wildflowers.

Date: 2024-03-25 11:26 pm (UTC)They are incredible dogs, it's true. I was expecting a tiny stupid ball of fluff, and I had no idea that I was getting a bizarrely specific and complicated personality. Every dog is unique in its own way, of course, but chihuahuas are really something special.

Date: 2024-03-25 11:22 pm (UTC)Chupa was an absolute monarch, and every single day was her birthday. I suppose it's possible that she may have lived longer if we didn't hand-feed her pastries imported from Japan. But what sort of life would that be?
One day I myself aspire to live as well as that stupid little dog, bless her soul.
