- I finished the third and fourth (out of eleven) sections of Chapter 17 of An Unfound Door. I referenced a lot of photos of abandoned houses to write these sections. (This) photo-heavy article about real estate in Delaware is one of the more interesting stories I encountered while doing research.

- I commissioned a Zelda fan artist (and Ganondorf cosplayer) whom I’ve been following for a while, RavenNoodle, to draw a portrait of Fhiad from An Unfound Door. She posted the illustration on Instagram (here). My what a handsome lad!

- I wrote a blog post for Zelda Creators on the theme of “design your own Zelda game,” and of course my dream game would be about Zelda herself. This was a lot of fun, and I’ll link to the post when it’s live.

- I wrote a review of the Game Boy adventure game Neko Can Dream for Sidequest. This is a very sweet indie game developed by a transgender Japanese artist who’s somehow gone under the radar of comics and gaming websites despite being a superstar on social media. I love the strange but serene postapocalyptic vibes of her manga, and it’s cool to walk around and engage with that sort of space in her game.

- I got to share my love for the English translation of Deena Mohamed's monumental graphic novel Shubeik Lubeik in the WWAC roundup of our favorite work published in 2023 (here). I did my best to explain, in two short paragraphs, why this book should be on everyone's lifetime bucket list of graphic novels.

- I also got to share my appreciation for Premee Mohamed’s dark fantasy novella The Butcher of the Forest in the April edition of WWAC’s roundup of non-comics reading recommendations (here). Even if you don’t care for shambling undead amalgamations of forest creatures, there’s an advance review of Chuck Tingle’s new novel at the bottom of the page. Tor is doing some good work with its Nightfire line these days.

- After drawing a chibi version of Zelda from Skyward Sword last week, this week I drew a slightly more substantial anime-style illustration of Lilac from Ender Magnolia. I posted it on Tumblr (here). Ender Magnolia is what would happen if Studio Ghibli made a 2D Dark Souls game, and it’s (mercifully) much more accessible than both Dark Souls and Ni No Kuni. It's still on early access, but I'm looking forward to the full release!

This weekend I’m getting on a plane for a comics conference in Chichester. Please wish me luck!
