2024 Writing Log, Part 48

rynling- I’m still working on my wizard detective story, “The Case of the Phantom Portrait.” I seem to be averaging 1k words a week. I’m the slowest writer in the world, so this is good for me.
- I finished and edited my Bowser/Luigi story, “We Should Have a Sequel.” If you’re interested in reading 1.7k words of crackship delusions, it’s on AO3 (here).
- I finished and edited my essay “Dark Academia for Dark Times: Elden Ring and the Fall of the Academy” and sent it off to my editor at Bloodletter Magazine.
- I wrote a short review of the essay collection Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses for the upcoming winter reading recommendations roundtable on Women Write About Comics.
- As a treat to myself, I commissioned Om-nom-berries to draw an older version of Mr. Link LegendofZelda. Louisa posted her ruggedly handsome design on Tumblr (here), and he’s a charmer. Her holiday charity commissions are still open, and she’s lovely to work with.
- I drew a homage to one of my favorite Mike Mignola covers, except instead of Hellboy it’s got Ganondorf. I posted it on Tumblr (here).
I thought I would focus on writing this week, but instead I took it easy while running errands, catching up on reading, and playing video games. No regrets.
Also, I now have 475 koroks in Breath of the Wild. 🍃
