To be fair, it's just the headlines that are "unclear." The text in the American articles I've seen has no ambiguity. But still.
It's been one day and I'm already bone tired. What makes me even more tired is the knowledge that there's a certain type of person who gets off on conflict and will benefit from the next four years without being directly threatened. People like this will rise in the world on a tide of outrage.
Meanwhile, there are people like me who, for whatever reason, are deeply emotionally affected by this sort of thing. We need help, but we won't get it. We were never "high priority," but now we're going to be completely marginalized. Everyone wants to support ideas, but no one wants to support the people right in front of them who aren't perfect victims like the ones in their head.
ETA: I should specify that, by "people like me," I mean people who won't benefit from eugenicist-oriented policies enacted at a state and federal level. Which you'd think would be everyone, but alas.
For a while it was okay and gradually getting better. And now it's not. This is just how things are now. It frustrates me that certain pre-existing gaps will only grow larger, but there's nothing to do but to spite everyone by surviving anyway.

Date: 2025-01-21 02:55 pm (UTC)I think you know this about me, but I'm one of those messed-up Millennials who watched Revolutionary Girl Utena at an impressionable age. For most of my life, I wanted to be like Utena. Even if it's absurd and useless, I want to protect people! And that's great, but. Sometimes you're Anthy.
I've been trying to be good and check in with people more frequently this year, but I have very little to say. Mostly I'm just sending memes like
