Happy Super Bowl to those that celebrate

One of my neighbors just came over (at 9am sharp) to give me a pair of cardboard Eagles flyers to put in my windows in case there's rioting / exuberant celebration this evening. She seemed very serious and concerned.

I was like, "Thanks, but why do I need flyers in the windows?"

She thought for a second and then replied, "It's like Passover."

You know, I cannot disagree with her. (My cousin is a huge Eagles fan and was delighted, as was her cat, who had on his Eagles jersey while he sat in the window encouraging passersby. I cannot express how fucking cute this is.) We had a good chill time with snacks and laughter, so by that metric it was a success.

The sounds lovely! I’m not a fan of American football, but I’ve always had a good time at Superbowl parties, especially if they’re on the chill and relaxed end of the spectrum.

This year, though, I spent the evening inside with the doors locked and the lights off. 🫠

Mine ended up being quite smaller than I expected - almost everyone wasn't feeling well - but I got to spend a good several hours with people I don't see enough of, and without the looming specter of "what words might come out of [my ex]'s mouth that I'm then going to have to fix?" and it was lovely.
