You see between 20 and 32 color nuances: you are a trichromat, you have 3 types of cones (in the purple/blue, green and red area). You enjoy different colors as you can appreciate them. 50% of the population is trichromat.

You see between 33 and 39 colors: you are a tetrachromat, like bees, and have 4 types of cones (in the purple/blue, green, red plus yellow area). You are irritated by yellow, so this color will be nowhere to be found in your wardrobe. 25% of the population is tetrachromat.

I counted three times on three different screens, and there are exactly 40 colors. Idk where they're getting that there are only 39. I also don't understand the idea of being irritated by yellow. I love yellow! And "there is no yellow in your wardrobe" feels like a very silly thing to say. Yellow and its handsome cousin saffron are often on the palette of floral prints, which more people would wear if they weren't cowards. Also let me introduce you to one of my favorite t-shirts (here), which is 100% OSHA certified.

I counted multiple times and am pretty sure I cracked forty but was getting some weird shading that might've been throwing me off. Also yellow was my favorite color as a kid and I still like it. If I owned a Corvette, it would be bright yellow. (I was going to say I don't have any in my wardrobe because skintone but I have a lot of socks with yellow patterns and that counts.)

I noticed some shading too, so that might be it. I don't understand how optics work, but I'm glad to hear I'm not crazy. 😅

When I toured the Corvette Factory, on some family vacation or other as a kid, our guide said that yellow was the least common color for Corvettes and I was mortally offended then and remain mortally offended now.

Definitely not crazy! I also feel like it's a test that just can't work properly on screens, for multiple reasons.

Oh man! I saw your post on Bluesky the other day about rewarding yourself by writing fic after having to call doctor's offices. It shames me to say that my first thought was "yay fic!!" before it occurred to me to worry about how you're doing. I hope everything goes well.

For what it's worth, one of my aunts had (has?) glaucoma, but her eyestrain and headaches vanished instantly with medication, and that was ten years ago. I hope the science has gotten even better since then, and that it's similarly easy to snap your fingers and fix the problem.

Aww thank you! I hope everything goes well too 😭 I'm a bit... baffled by how the office with the ophthalmologist works, bc when I looked them up, they had no website or online presence at all, save for the specialist being listed under some Local Doctor Directory. And when I did call, the receptionist said they'd mail me intake stuff to fill out that I'd then need to send back to them before my appointment. I cannot stress enough how fucking THICK this envelope was when I got it. On one hand, it is nice to see some people have stayed the fuck offline and insist on doing things The Old Way. On the other, I feel like I'm applying for a job and I'm not a fan of this level of stress.

ANYHOW it definitely makes me feel better to know there are others who had glaucoma and had all their bullshit disappear after treatment! That gives me so much hope bc omg I'm so sick of the headaches. Always appreciate the support!! 💕 and even if I do go blind, you bet your ass I'm still gonna find ways to write smut and make it everyone's problem 😌

Got 39, and I can confirm that I also love the colour yellow— Canary Yellows, Golden Yellows, Marigolds, Saffrons, etc., I adore bright, rich yellows. They're some of my favourite colours :) Also SO TRUE, MORE PEOPLE WOULD WEAR FLORALS IF THEY WEREN'T COWARDS! they're so good and so versatile. Forever a floral fanatic, if florals have no fans assume I'm dead yadayada. Also that t-shirt is delightful, lol <3
