- I wrote the sixth chapter of What Dreams May Come, a Bloodborne-themed Legend of Zelda AU. I also got started on the seventh chapter, which currently exists in a very rough draft.

- Every day I sit down to work on a longer story, and usually I take these projects a paragraph at a time – or a sentence at a time, when I’m super tired. The idea is to keep the story fresh so that it’s ready to go when inspiration strikes. And with this part of What Dreams May Come, I finally got to enjoy that boost of creative energy. Always a pleasure.

- My review of Kazimir Lee’s debut graphic novel, Low Orbit, was published on Comics Beat (here). This is a 100% positive review, but my actual feelings about this book are ambivalent. It’s nothing specific; I’m just not into YA graphic novels. Still, this one is better than most, and I think it would have made a huge impact on me if I were ten years younger. I’m glad it exists, and I’m honored to have been given an opportunity to write a review. I want the artist to be showered in praise so they can keep drawing comics.

- This week’s post on my book review blog (here) is about She and Her Cat, the prose adaptation of the super-indie short animation (this one here) that famously became Makoto Shinkai’s debut. I know that “a prose adaptation of a five-minute student anime about cats” sounds like the death of fiction, but I really liked this book. The high quality of the translation makes a big difference, and the illustrations are lovely.

- I posted a full-page illustration of one of my favorite places in Breath of the Wild on Tumblr (here). It was a pain in the ass to get the details of Link’s clothing right, and I’m still not sure it’s 100% accurate, but I’m proud of this piece.

I spent the past two weeks living my American car commercial dream of driving through mountain forests in a high-end Mercedes. Unfortunately I was not romanced by any draculas; but otherwise, everything was perfect.

When I was struggling through When Love With Unconfinéd Wings (did you know it's really hard to write a beautiful story about people falling in love and making it work when your own marriage is falling apart? because it is!) some days I only got one sentence, and I was like, I'll never smooth this out in editing.

....I couldn't even tell which segments those were, months later, in editing.

Which is my way of saying, yep, one sentence at a time gets it done.
