- I posted my first Silksong story! It’s called “What Slips Through the Cracks,” and it’s about Hornet recovering from her fall at the beginning of the game in the company of the Chapel Maid. Also she pets the moss puppies. I’m working on a simple illustration, but for the time being I went ahead and posted the story on AO3 (here).

- The second chapter of my Tears of the Kingdom ancient era Zelda/Ganondorf smutfic is up on AO3 (here). What an absolute piece of garbage this fic is, and what a joy. I should write more stories like this.

- I got started on the next story for my Ruins zine. It’s called “The Queen of Leeds,” and it’s about a woman who sets herself up in the ruins of Kirkstall Abbey after climate change and rising water levels render many of the cities in England uninhabitable. She starts giving away excess vegetables and gradually ends up attracting a community. Idk, I just think it’s cool how medieval abbeys were purposefully built to be climate-controlled and (mostly) self-sufficient in terms of producing and storing food.

- This week’s post on my book review blog (here) is about Mai Ishizawa’s short novel The Place of Shells, which is about a Japanese PhD student studying European art history in a beautiful German town while coming to terms with her fading memories of the March 2011 tsunami. This book is written in a very literary style and probably not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it. Its narrator is living my dream honestly.

- No but really, she is. I’d like to visit Göttingen myself this coming summer, if I can swing it.

- We’re enjoying peak autumn foliage here in Philadelphia, and I’ve been inspired to make some cozy-cute and creepy-cute art. I started off with another study of a ceramic piece created by Agata.Ceramicorn, with an intention to focus on color and shapes. I liked the flat colors so much that I decided to leave the drawing without any shading, and I posted it on Tumblr (here).

- This flat-color shape study inspired me to finally get started on a series of simple studies of fantasy ruins. I can’t draw architecture worth shit, but I’m aiming for bold shapes and evocative color palettes. I posted my first attempt on Tumblr (here).

- And for Halloween: Mimikyu loves u (here) on Tumblr. Content warning for canon-accurate pokémon spookiness. But also… if not friend then why friend shaped?

If you’ve ever wondered why I’m so fascinated with overgrown ruins, I wish I could tell you. For what it’s worth, I currently live next to an abandoned house, and its backyard is quite nice in the fall. Observe:

My local library is doing a two-part presentation on the fall of monastery libraries; should I toss the link to the videos your way when they put them up later?

Man, that foliage is gorgeous. I don't know how you do anything that isn't just staring at plants all day, honestly.
