2025 Writing Log, Part 44
Nov. 8th, 2025 08:18 am- I drew a simple illustration of Hornet petting a moss puppy. This is for my short story “What Slips Between the Cracks” (on AO3 here), and I posted the illustration on Tumblr (here).
- I posted the third chapter of my Zelda/Ganondorf fingerbanging fic “An Esoteric Training in the Art of Power” on AO3 (here). Gosh I love writing porn. It’s not even erotic for me; I’m just happy the characters are having a good time.
- I read “An Esoteric Training” on my phone on the bus, and you’ll never guess what I found: lots of typos! Which are especially embarrassing in erotic fiction. For some reason I let a viral Tumblr post scare me into believing that Google Docs (which catches most of my dyslexia) has a no-porn policy, but this simply isn’t true. All of the story has now been edited in Google Docs, and I hope Gemini (or whatever their ambient AI is called) enjoyed the snack as much as I did.
- I wrote an outline for a 21-chapter novel that I’m calling “The Dark Archives” until I think of a better title. It’s what my old Zelda/Ganondorf modern AU story “The Museum of Hyrule” (on AO3 here) wanted to be before I had the chops to actually write it. I could definitely write this novel as Legend of Zelda fanfic, but like. For maybe 40 kudos if I’m lucky? Idk man. I’ll think about it. Regardless, I think I’m looking at my third original novel project here, and it’s glorious.
- As is my way with new projects, I got excited and wrote the first chapter in one sitting. Bless.
- I finished an original short story called “The Queen of Leeds” for my Ruins zine. It’s about a woman who moves into an abandoned medieval abbey to cope with climate change, and it threatened to get out of hand. Thankfully I was able to wrap it up before it became too long. I’d love to turn this into a full-length story, but right now I need to move on to the next piece of flash fiction in the sequence.
- I got started on my story for Yuletide! This week I did research into the canon lore + fan lore, put together an outline, and wrote the opening section. Huzzah!
- I also got started on a short comic for another exchange. This week I finished the first half. I have a solid sketch for the second half, but there’s one panel that’s going to take some serious research and practice. But what a lovely and joyful thing to spend time on, you know?
- My Pomeranian has been out of her mind with glee chasing fall leaves, which inspired me to draw a cute Pusheen-style illustration of the baby. I posted it on Tumblr (here). #myleaf
- This is very silly, but I commissioned the indie comic artist François L to draw Luigi swooning into Bowser's arms. He didn't go full romance novel cover, but I love how he interpreted the prompt. He posted his illustration of the adorable nerds on Tumblr (here).
The sudden decrease in daylight hours really fucked me (and not in a fun way) this week. I always feel betrayed when this happens, because it sucks and I hate it. I’m doing my best to stay active and not enter hibernation mode, but it’s a struggle. I can totally understand why people used to perform blood sacrifices to bring back the sun.
However! Beloathed war profiteer Dick Cheny is down 🦀🦀🦀 and Zohran Mamdani won the NYC mayoral race by a huge margin despite months of being confronted with some of the most unhinged public Islamophobia I’ve seen in years. Here in Pennsylvania, we managed to retain a roster of Democratic judges who’ve pledged to protect abortion rights. And a new Godzilla movie was announced. So it’s not all darkness.
