- I edited Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 of The Legend of the Princess, a Legend of Zelda AU fanfic novel I wrote back in 2018. These edits are slow and time-consuming, so I can only do them intermittently. Still, it would be nice to have the whole novel edited by the end of the year.

- Yuletide authors have been revealed, so I can link to my story, “An Elegy of Silk,” on AO3 (here). This story is about the Second Sentinel in Silksong, and it’s the first time I’ve written from the perspective of a robotic character, as well as the first opportunity I’ve had to use it/its pronouns. I went through almost a dozen drafts trying to hammer out the action scenes, and I think I eventually ended up with something cool. This was a lot of fun to write!

- My queer Lovecraftian romance, “The Annotated Kitab al-Azif,” is now free to read on The New Absurdist (here). If you’re into contemporary weird fiction with Magnus Archives vibes, this story is about 5k words of atmospheric dark academia.

- This week’s post on my book review blog (here) is about Atsuhiro Yoshida’s new short story collection, Tokyo Apartment. The stories are themed according to the title, and what I like about them is that all of the apartments in question are super retro. The collection is a celebration of non-wealthy working people in the city, and the stories might perhaps be described as “cozy.” As in all of Yoshida’s writing, the slice-of-life vibes are lovely.

- I started my third playthrough of Echoes of Wisdom last week, and I posted an illustration of the game’s Great Fairy on Tumblr (here).

- Happy Year of the Fire Horse! I didn’t finish this art in time to make postcards, but I posted my new year’s drawing on Tumblr (here).

- In the interest of archiving my work, I posted my old Link's Awakening minicomic, "Ballad of the Wind Fish," on AO3 (here). This is from 2019, but it still holds a special place in my heart.

I’m still taking it easy, but this week I did all my new year’s cleaning, which was cathartic. I also backed up my files on an external hard drive, and then I made a backup of the backup. This will not halt the inexorable creep of entropy, but it’s good for my peace of mind.

The calming effect of good backups is so powerful! I'm glad you have that security (even if we both know it can't cover every eventuality.)
