There's another thing I did this week that I don't want to hide under a cut, because maybe someone who sees this would like to do it too:

- I applied as a writer to The Reins of History: A Final Fantasy XII Zine, whose site on Carrd is (here) along with links to a very short application. Anyone who signs up can contribute to this zine in whatever way they wish, and the head mod is a longtime community organizer. I have a good feeling about this project!

Thanks! This is the one organized by Quail on the Discord server, and they've graciously made it a project where anyone who wants can participate.

Meanwhile I just saw that there's a FFVI zine in planning made by a group of mods who like to do competitive projects that exclude the vast majority of applicants, and I'm respectfully pretending that I don't see it. A FFVI zine was bound to happen sometime, but still. I want that nasty for-profit garbage as far away from the chill and supportive FFVI community as it can get.

ETA: Actually you know what, I changed my mind. The FFVI zine project looks cool, and I hope the mods running it have a good time. There's no rule that there has to be just one FFVI zine, after all.

There is no rule! It's frustrating when people are making exclusionary things, but also I hope there are more zines that are more welcoming. But imo it's rarely a bad thing to have more content for a game, especially one that's [gulp] turning 32 this year.
