The art and animation are extremely impressive!!

Unfortunately, all of the movie’s jokes are in the trailer...

...or in the sections with Star Fox, which are surprisingly well-written.

Mostly it’s just a movie for kids, though. It has all the charm and creativity of the first movie, but it leans into speaking to a target demographic of 5-8yo children. The theater in West Philly where we went to see it was filled with little kids, and they really seemed to love it.

I liked it okay, I guess. There’s definitely enough Bowser/Luigi material to work with!

I basically have one reason to see it. ^^;; But at the rate I usually manage to watch movies, it'll be on Blu-ray by then.

Hearing this brings me joy, because I have loved Star Fox for a long time, since Easter of 1993 when I got the first game for SNES. Being one of three games my family owned for the system, we played the daylights out of it and I quickly became obsessed. Through a fluke of timing, I actually ended up with a preview display poster for the game as a teenager, which hung on my bedroom wall for years and years. It's now nicely framed and hangs in my hallway and has become a bit of a universal language. Guys installing my windows? Holy shit it's time to talk about Star Fox. Guys bringing in my new fridge? Started with the N64 game but that's good too.

When the most recent game came out, a few years ago now, I ordered the guide from Amazon and like most of my mail, it went to my parents' house. I immediately showed my father, who gleefully went 'that guy! those guys are still around!'.

This is a very long-winded way of saying 'yay!', I think.

I had very low expectations for the first movie, but I was idly interested in seeing Bowser because I like Bowser. So when it came out on DVD I got it from Redbox (RIP) and gave it a watch and, you know? I could take or leave the rest because I was not a grade schooler, but Bowser was fantastic, so my expectations were met. Now that Redbox doesn't exist anymore I guess I'll figure out another way to see Bowser for cheap 6 to 11 months after everyone else has done it, because it sounds like this movie will offer a similar experience.
