2017 Weekly Writing Log, Part Twenty-One

- I put up a new book review on my professional blog.

- I put up a new post on my gaming blog.

- I flew to Japan.

- I'm so goddamn jetlagged, holy fuck.

- I'm doing my best on Instagram, I am trying really hard.

I think being jet lagged is understandable and indeed even expected in that circumstance!

Someday I want to go to Japan. If I can deal with being on a plane that long.

I will be real with you, a fourteen-hour flight is no joke.

Somewhere around eleven hours in you begin to fully appreciate the Buddhist doctrine that "life is suffering." Not in any sort of philosophical sense, but in a very real and very visceral sense. You realize that the act of living is nothing more than avoiding the pain of being alive, and that everything else - language, art, culture - is a thin sheet of ice over a vast ocean of suffering.

On the other hand, Japan is really cool! One thing I think that you especially would appreciate is just how much of a cultural institution Final Fantasy is over here, like, this is just another advertisement in the train station...
