Hollow Knight, Part Two

One of my favorite things about Hollow Knight is that it has a dark(er than average) area whose theme is simply: Spiders.

Or, more appropriately: Horrible Spiders. :)

There's also a hidden boss called Nosk at the bottom of the area whose theme is: The Worst Spider.

You gain access to this area around the middle of the game, but it's also one of your final destinations. It's a maze, so you spend a lot of time there. This time is interspersed with jump scares, each more creative and terrible than the last.

I don't want to make this game seem edgy, because it's not, but goddamn. Those sure are some spiders.

NOSK. That whole sequence is QUALITY nightmare fuel.

Nobody spoiled me going into the boss fight, and needless to say it was a very unpleasant (but still very fun) surprise.

That's probably a good way to describe Hollow Knight in general: A very unpleasant, but still very fun, surprise.
