2022 Writing Log 14
Apr. 28th, 2022 10:13 am- I did another round of editing on Demon King Chapter 8, and I got started on Chapter 9.
- I’m continuing to write my original horror story “The Greenhouse.” It’s slow going, and I’ve only been writing one or two paragraphs a day. This is the final story I’m going to include in my botanical horror zine, and I’ll commission the cover illustration once the first draft is complete.
- Speaking of commissions! I commissioned Doc Hollibee on Twitter to draw Zelda with a sword, and (she did good work). I liked this so much that I also requested a commission of Ceres from The Demon King. Fingers crossed the artist accepts it!
- ShelfWornDrawn on Instagram finished my book stack commission (here), and I was inspired to post a short annotated list of the titles on my book review blog (here).
- I posted the sixth illustration in my Wiztober series on Tumblr (here).
- I edited and posted my very short reviews of very short (and very free) Game Boy style story games on my blog. Here’s the list so far:
Horror Games:
A Dark Winter Wander (link)
Opossum Country (link)
Waking Nightmare (link)
A Time for Giving (link)
Adventure Games:
Capacity (link)
Deep Forest (link)
Red Trees (link)
Maybe, once I’m done playing and reviewing all the Game Boy games in my Itchio library, I’ll make a zine or something? I think it would be cool to draw my own pixel art cover maybe.
I’ve been having trouble getting into a routine since we moved into the new house, and it’s been difficult to write. Or rather, it’s been difficult to write anything substantial. I’m also exhausted. I feel like I really need to see some trees right now, and I’m tempted to make a bad financial decision and go on holiday away from the city.

Date: 2022-04-29 12:17 pm (UTC)I think so, literally. More than half of my students (26 out of 48) got Covid at some point this semester, and I think the other half just didn't get tested. Now that we're all vaccinated, there's probably not such a great danger of serious health concerns, but it's probably not great to be walking around with that in your body.
And even if it's not literally Covid... All the university instructors just got an email from the Office of Student Services warning us that Student Health has been completely overwhelmed by undergrads request appointments related to mental health, and that we should be nice to everyone despite record levels of kids skipping class and not turning in assignments.
It's like, "Oh? Could there possibly be an atmospheric gestalt of everyone being a little tired after two years of pandemic + uncertainty + drastic inflation of basic living costs? Maybe??"
Whatever is in the air, I've been hearing it in the recent episodes of the podcasts I listen to. Also this weird cold snap doesn't help.
Good luck to both of us for good writing energy in the near future! 💪✨

Date: 2022-04-29 02:10 pm (UTC)I'm really hopeful that as real spring rolls in and we get nice days (the most writing I did was during the heat wave of 70 degree days) I'll get better at writing. We can do it!
